Sustainability with heart

Sustainability is the word of the hour. For us, sustainability is not just an idea, but a fundamental principle that flows into all areas of the company. We are aware of our great responsibility for the future and want to fulfil it. Actions speak louder than words.

We turn words into action

We take responsibility and are committed to nature and people. Our daily actions are characterised by our mindset. We do not stand still – we go further. Our defined goals are regularly scrutinised and adjusted where necessary. We do everything we can to realise them with commitment and enthusiasm.

Local ingredients

We mostly use local, organic ingredients for the freshly prepared dishes in our kitchen:

  • Our meat comes from the region, from the Berchtold Metzgerei in Rotkreuz, Biohof Bruhst in Oberägeri, the Metzgerei Gabriel in Wolfenschiessen & Biohof Breiten in Rotkreuz
  • We obtain our bread from the Hotz Rust bakery in Rotkreuz
  • The eggs, cheese and dairy products are from Biohof Breiten, Küssnachter Dorfkäserei, Chäs-Hütte in Meierskappel and Biohof Breiten in Rotkreuz
  • We source our fruit and vegetables from Naturhof Schönegg in Rotkreuz

Swiss wines

We also focus on Swissness in our wine range. We have greatly expanded our range of Swiss white and red wines. We now also offer regional wine from winemaker Daniel Holzgang from Buonas. Less transport means a smaller CO2 footprint for us and our guests. It is important to us to contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and to support the local economy.

Energy efficiency

Saving energy is our top priority. 

  • We heat with geothermal energy. 
  • In addition, there is a solar system on the roof of the Hotel APART that ensures the power supply for the entire company.
  • Electricity in the rooms is only switched on when the guest needs it. The ventilation is also controlled from reception. 
  • It goes without saying that we also use energy-saving LED lamps everywhere.

Resource efficiency

  • We only wash guests» towels if they want us to. Those who choose not to do so receive a consumption voucher for our restaurants. 
  • Refillable dispensers ensure less waste. 
  • The cleaning agents we use are biodegradable. 
  • Our laundry is washed in a local laundry to support local businesses and avoid long transport routes

  • Our food is carefully purchased and precisely portioned to avoid food waste
  • Egg dishes for breakfast are prepared à la minute: The customer enjoys better quality and waste is minimised 
  • Leftovers can be taken home in our sustainable take-away boxes
  • We ensure sustainable waste separation and thus conserve natural resources

We rely on digital management: whenever possible, we do without paper. Our check-in and check-out process is also completely paperless. This not only reduces printing and storage costs, but also conserves natural resources. Our top priority is to minimise our ecological footprint as much as possible.

We are aware of our social responsibility and lend a hand to local clubs and associations whenever possible. 

  • We are the main sponsor of 1. FC Rotkreuz
  • We support various sports clubs with tournament sponsorships
  • We support cultural events such as the Summer Night Games in Cham 
  • We support cultural associations such as the Theaterlüüt Risch Rotkreuz

Mobility

  • Thanks to our location right next to Rotkreuz railway station, we are virtually predestined to be reached by public transport. This locational advantage is proactively communicated to our guests
  • We offer our guests two charging stations for their electric cars
  • We also focus on local products and thus promote short transport routes for our goods deliveries

Swisstainable – Level 1

We are a partner of the Switzerland Tourism sustainability label. By participating, we have committed ourselves to taking care of the environment and its resources. The goals we have defined are

  • further reduction of electricity consumption
  • making the workplace more attractive for our employees
  • Promoting the use of public transport or sustainable means of transport for employees and guests
